The GTi and high spec GTDs have better rear suspension and much less weight to carry around. So I would expect them to out handle the GTE. GTE like E Tron and Ampera/Volt rather a half way house - fun but compromised, certainly from eco point of view. Best off comparing GTE with 1.4 TSI and e Golf.
